Creative Costume Ideas for Halloween

With Halloween fast approaching we thought you’d appreciate a few ideas for creative costumes using things you probably already have lurking in your cupboards.

Pick a colour, any colour and use that top to toe as a base.

Add another brightly coloured dress or tunic and some funky accessories.

Finish off with spray in hair dye and as much hairspray as you can find for that unique Troll hairdo!

Top Tip: Use 2 pairs of tights underneath a matching leotard to create a full body suit at low cost.  Cut the toes off 1 pair of tights and cut into the gusset to create an opening then turn the tights upside down and put them over your head and arms. Wear the 2nd pair of tights on your legs as normal.

Bumble Bee

Bumble Bee Costume

This is perfect for all our little Starlite dancers.

Using your yellow leotard from this year’s show as a base, add a yellow tutu, wings and an antenna headband with stripy tights and gloves.

Tack stitch black ribbon around the body to create stripes and you’re good to go!

Top tip: If you’re feeling extra crafty, why not make your own wings using netting, craft wire and ribbon.

This costume could easily become a ladybird, spider or butterfly with different colours.

Bubble Bath

Scrub a dub dub!

This costume is not only super cute, it’s also super easy!

Take some white balloons, a shower cap, scrubbing brush and a rubber ducky.  Attach them all to a white base and hey presto, one bubble bath costume complete!

Top tip: Sing ‘I’m Forever Blowing Bubbles’ and blow bubbles to make your costume come alive!

St Trinians

St Trinians CostumeAnother really simple costume that’s completely free!

Take your regular school uniform and wear it as dishevelled as you like. Go crazy with your hair in messy bunches or plaits, add some muddy knees & ripped socks and you’re good to go.

Top tip: If you can borrow an old lacrosse stick (huh?!?!) or a hockey stick (slightly easier to find) and a straw hat you’ll really nail this look.

Who doesn’t love a mischievous little Minion?

Create this with a long-sleeved yellow top and denim dungarees then add goggles, black gloves & black boots.

Top tip: Don’t forget to carry a banana!
